MTJ Global takes seriously the importance of leading by example. We operate in difficult environments and face some of the same challenges faced by our clients. That’s why we’ve chosen an approach to reducing our impact on the environment that is aspirational yet practical.

These commitments are as follows;

• Respect the environment, making rational use of natural resources and taking steps to prevent pollution from the different processes involved in our industrial operations.
• Recycling all our waste to make sure it does not go to landfills.
• Promote the sustainable use of raw materials and natural resources. Introduce guidelines for continuously improving our environmental performance.
• Introduce guidelines for continuous improvement in their environmental performance.
• Comply with the legislation in force on environmental protection, as well as with other voluntarily accepted commitments.
• To promote, through on-the-job training, the involvement of all our employees, individually and on a group basis, in environmental protection matters.
• To cooperate with the responsible Administrative Authorities and Agencies.
• To carry out environmental protection programmes.
• To communicate and report on our environmental management efforts.
• Adopting green energy as power sources for our factories and buildings.
• Using EVs as main mode of transport for employees and moving goods.

This is a body that is set up in partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka to develop Fairtrade standard to make sure farmers are paid fairly for their crop.

One of our key mission is to provide 1000 plus farming communities a regular income, our success is based on their hard work and the crops they yield. Our "Farmers First" programme is designed to enhance their quality of life with giving their children free education and health care to the farmers and their families.

Our best pay practices is designed to meet the Fairtrade prices so they are guaranteed the best price possible every time. Our ambition is by the end of 2025 to set up Farmers First Alliance in 20 other countries and to bring the same success we had in Sri Lanka to other parts of the world.

The United Nations and the World Bank warned recently that unpredictable rainfall, rising temperatures and droughts had already reduced yields of corn and wheat, which could lead to food conflicts within a decade. With our best practice farming programme we are educating farmers to optimise their resources and helping them to access new technologies to improve their harvest.
